The Ohio Academy of History is made up of professional and independent historians from universities, colleges, high schools, elementary schools, and the general public. It issues awards for outstanding publication, teaching, service, dissertations, and public history. It also monitors and comments on the dissemination of historical knowledge in Ohio’s schools, colleges, and universities. In the fall, members of the Academy gather for a social hour and dinner, followed by a panel presentation or speaker. The Academy holds its annual business meeting during the spring accompanied by scholarly sessions on topics of historical interest.
