Drew also excelled as a teacher, inspiring thousands of Miami undergraduates. He mentored large numbers of graduate students and junior colleagues, giving freely of his time and energy to further the careers of young historians. His colleagues recognized Drew’s contributions to field, electing him president of both the Society for Historians of the Early American Republic (SHEAR) and the Ohio Academy of History. The Ohio Academy mourns his passing. We, and the historical profession in general, have lost a great scholar, teacher, and friend.
